Teaching Fractions: The Beauty, Challenges, and Considerations

Do you ever wonder why fractions are a hard topic for students to learn? Fractions are complex and yet are the key to developing a strong sense of rational numbers. This presentation focuses on many things to consider when we ask ourselves, “Why is teaching fractions so hard?” Targeting this question, research around this topic will be shared, along with suggested resources and manipulatives to support the teaching of the meaning of fractions.
